Magnetic writer for noise suppression in perpendicular recording media

A transducing head for perpendicularly writing data to a magnetic medium having a recording layer and a soft magnetic underlayer comprises a perpendicular write transducer for writing data into the recording layer and a DC magnetic writer having legs in spaced relation to generate a magnetic field along tracks of the magnetic medium. The magnetic field writes a DC magnetic effect longitudinally into the soft magnetic underlayer, thereby reducing noise due to the operation of the perpendicular write transducer.
