FIELD: paper-and-pulp industry. SUBSTANCE: in order to separate lignocellulose biomass into lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose, biomass is preliminarily subjected to water or water steam hydrolysis. Hydrolyzed hemicellulose is extracted with aqueous medium. After that, modified lignin present in residue is extracted with alkanolamine containing no N-alkyl substituents. Lignin is separated from extractant, which is further recovered. Hemicelluloses and lignin can be separated from cellulose in two different process stages.
