METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A COLOR FILTER CATHODE RAY TUBE (CRT)

A method of manufacturing a luminescent screen (22) assembly for a cathode ray tube (CRT) (10) is disclosed. The luminescent screen assembly is formed on an interior surface of a faceplate panel (12) of the CRT. The luminescent screen assembly includes a patterned light absorbing matrix (23) that defines a first set of fields (40), a second set of fields (42), and a third set of fields (44). A blocking layer (46) is formed over the second set of fields and the third set of fields. A pigment layer is then applied to the first set of fields. The blocking layer is removed from the second set of fields and the third set of fields to form a color filter in the first set of fields. Another pigment may be applied to the second set of fields to form a color filter therein.
