A bonded laminated article comprises a sheet of polycarbonate bonded between two sheets of polyurethane. A preferred laminated article comprises a sheet of polycarbonate bonded between two sheets of polyurethane, the whole being bonded between two sheets of glass. Specified polycarbonates are those made by reacting di(monohydroxyaryl) alkanes with phosgene or bischloro-carbonic esters of di- (monohydroxyaryl) alkanes. Many suitable reactants for preparing the polyurethanes are specified. The glass sheets are preferably prestressed or tempered. In preparing the preferred structural glass the sheets are preferably assembled, warmed, passed through de-airing rolls, heated under pressure in an oil-filled autoclave, allowed to cool whilst under pressure and washed.</p> |
