The device has a stator with at least one stator winding of electrically conducting wire material in contact with a system wall, especially of conducting material near which is an externally accessible elongated space (15) for fitting a temperature sensor (13) bounded by the stator winding (6) and by a separate section (18) of the system wall. The space narrows so that the sensor contacts the stator winding when inserted.
