A valve for liquids or fluent materials comprising a flexible valve member disposed over one or more apertures in a relatively non-flexible valve seat; wherein, when suction is applied to the face of the flexible valve member remote from the valve seat or pressure is applied to the face of the flexible valve member nearest to the valve seat, the flexible valve member will be flexed off the valve seat and permit liquid or fluent material to flow through the or each aperture but the flexible valve member will flex back to lie over and close the or each aperture to seat the same when the suction or pressure is released.
