A circuit arrangement includes a rectifier 4 that converts the first AC voltage produced by a generator 2 into a first varying DC voltage and a booster 6 that converts the varying DC voltage into a constant DC voltage. A first inverter 8, which is connected to the output of the booster 8, converts the constant DC voltage into a second AC voltage that is transformed to high voltage AC by transformer 10, which in turn is rectified by rectifier 12 to high constant voltage DC that is fed into the high voltage transmission line 14. At the other end of the transmission line the high voltage DC is inverted back to three-phase AC power for the consumer grid. The regulation of the high voltage DC fed into the transmission line permits the current on the line to change linearly as a function of the power to be transmitted on the line. No DC chokes are required for the transmission line. |
