The compressed air intensifier has a valve component (2) connected to a force setting piston which divides a housing into a constant pressure chamber and variable pressure chamber. A brake force amplifying mechanism (10) is provided in the valve component between a reaction plate (3) and plunger piston (9). With quick braking, the rod (23) of the plunger piston is displaced, balls (30) are displaced outwards and the plunger piston rod acts directly against a reaction rod (22) which leads to a contracting of the brake force amplifying mechanism.
