VITAL SIGN DETECTOR

A vital sign detection device is disclosed for detecting and communicating the presence of a heart beat, a biological function, or biometric trait of an individual. A communication equipped vital sign detection device allows cheap, efficient monitoring of the vital signs of multiple individuals from a central location. The vital sign detection device may also be relatively small, disposable, and portable, providing valuable monitoring functions in emergency situations. It comprises a flexible base (116) that can adapt to the shape of the body to which the sensor can be attach via an adhesive (118), a cover, and a flexible circuit (210) to which a dedection and communication circuit (240) can be attached. An inrared emitter (232) and detector(234) combination is used as sensing means.
