A 3-dimensional space is displayed on the 2-dimensional display screen. Coordinate values and a pressing value of the point in the 2-dimensional display screen specified by a user are detected and the position in the 3-dimensional space is specified according to the coordinate values and the pressing value. Thus, the user can easily specify an arbitrary point in the 3-dimensional space by specifying a point on the 2-dimensional display screen. With a natural operation feeling like operation in the real world, it is possible to easily and accurately specify an arbitrary point in the 3-dimensional space.
