<p>An image detecting apparatus having an edit function and exhibiting a high operability and a good affinity is provided. In a case where an image reproducing system comprising an MPEG video decoder (23), an image signal post-processing circuit (24), a combining part (26) and an NTSC encoder (27) has been adapted to reproduce image data recorded in a recording medium (18), when a chapter mark key on a remote control (150) is depressed, a CPU (40) acquires information for determining the image to be reproduced and displayed and records it in the recording medium (18). A still image producing circuit (25) displays, with reference to the image to which the chapter mark has been added, a scaled-down still image. In this way, a target image is determined, and reproduction and edition are performed with reference to the determined target image.</p> |
