<p>A method for the contactless measuring of distances to aircraft when positioning said aircraft, such as when docking or parking said aircraft, wherein a scanning laser (2) belonging to a distance measuring device (1) is directed towards an area along a centre line (3) along which an aircraft (4) is intended to be moved in the positioning of said aircraft and located in a position in front of an aircraft to be positioned, said laser (2) being adapted to emit measuring pulses (6) stepwise or incrementally at different angles so as to detect a predetermined measurement volume.The invention is characterised in that said laser (2) is caused to be calibrated with the distance from the laser (2) to the ground in respect of at least some of said angles; in that the laser (2) is caused to measure the distance at said angles during positioning of an aircraft (4); in that the measured distances are compared with said calibrated distances in a computer (7) belonging to the distance measuring device (1); and in that the laser (2) is considered to have measured the correct distance when there is a predetermined agreement with said calibrated distance.The invention also relates to apparatus for carrying out the inventive method. ?</p> |
