[Also in Divisions C3 and H1] Paper is coated with an aqueous composition comprising a sulphonate-terminated telomer of the formula: where M is a cation, R<SP>1</SP> , R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are hydrogen methyl or ethyl, X is one or more hydrophobic groups, Y is one or more hydrophilic groups, a+b is from 10 to 100 and a/a+b is from 0 to 0.6. The exemplified telomers are the sodium sulphonate-terminated acrylonitrile-potassium acrylate, acrylonitrileacrylic acid, and acrylamide-potassium acrylate co-telomers.</p> |
