An ultraviolet contact-printing exposure machine comprises a transparent drum 10, which is more than 10 inches in diameter, a coaxially mounted U.V. lamp 14, a cage of circumferentially spaced wheels 21, 22, 23 to floatably mount said drum end wise movement of the drum being restricted by wheels not shown, continuous belts 12A, 12B, 12C and 12D having an inner arcuate section engaging the major portion of the circumference of the drum, the remaining portion constituting an opening into which a microfilm and duplicating film may be introduced between said belt and drum, means to tension said belt e.g. a spring-biased roller 29 and motor means not shown to drive said belt. The drum may contain an optical wedge 33 to correct non-uniform emission of the lamp. The belt may be mounted on rollers one of which 30 serves as a hinge for a door 32 and another of which 31 is rotatably mounted on the door whereby access is provided to clean the drum. The drum may be cooled by an air blower and be provided with a transparent polyethylene terephthalate skin and itself be made of plastics material or glass. |
