The invention relates to a connecting device (7) for connecting module racks in a switchgear cabinet (1), comprising a housing (10) with cuboid isolating contact pieces (24) supported therein. Mirror-symmetrical housing halves (17, 18) of the housing (10) cooperate on the one side to provide inlet openings (22) for movable isolating contact pieces and on the other side to provide cable inlets (23) for connecting cables that connect the isolating contact pieces (24) in the housing (10) to stationary terminals (12). The inventive connecting device (7) can be produced at low costs and is especially suitable for module racks with small capacity or small rated current.
