A shaped charge device 10 comprises a twopart case 11, composed of ceramic material containing at least 86% by weight of aluminium oxide, and containing a high explosive shaped charge 14 having a metal liner 17. A booster charge 29 is disposed within an aligned bore 28, formed in the shaped charged, and a recess 26 in the inner surface of rear wall 20. A detonating cord 23 is located in a groove 22 and is separated from the booster by a wall portion 27 not thicker than 0À055 inch. The parts 12 and 13 of the casing are sealingly secured together by an epoxy resin which also extrudes into the gap 31 to retain the shaped charge in position. Grooves 25 are provided in the casing for mounting the shaped charge device on an expandable carrier (not shown). Detonation of the cord 23 causes a shock wave of sufficient energy to pass through the rear wall portion 27 and detonate the booster which in turn detonates the main charge. |
