The folding umbrella consists of a central mast (1) to which umbrella-arms (8) are directly attached at equal angled distances or attached by a sliding ring (5) consisting of at least two opposite-facing hydraulic cylinders (6). The arms are swiveled by drive mechanisms between a folded-down position and a radial, star-shaped position, and support a folding membrane forming a canopy. Attachment tubes (7) are joined by links to a sliding-ring enclosing the mast.
