An LED/semiconductor laser acts as a source (2) of beams to be modulated during operation and to transmit pulses of light. A beam (7) of light emerging from a transmitting lens (3) shines through a receiving lens (RL) (4). As the RL operates altogether on an outer side (5) as a plane face, a flat central area (6) on the RL's inner side is confined to a cross-section of a transmitting beam. An Independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting an opto-electronic sensor.
