The adapter includes an adapter connector (21) with a socket terminal (23) that receives the input power of an electrical connector of a power adapter (12). A plug connector (22) is provided for the connection with the power socket of an electronic device (14), e.g. a hard drive module, CD-ROM for outputting power of the socket terminal. A power control unit (25) controls the input power and a first current cable (24) is connected to the adapter connector and to a second current cable. An electrical connector (26) is provided at one end of the second current cable for connection with the power socket of the electrical device or for outputting controlled power.
