A method for accurately pushing a pallet into a container has guides on the floor of the container and spring loaded guides on the front sides of the container as well as a removable lifting bar on the rear of the container for coupling to a lifting vehicle. If the pallet is not aligned correctly the lifting hook slides off centre on the lifting bar thereby giving an immediate indication to the operator before any damage is done. The pallet is secured inside the container via threaded clamps which engage angled thrust blocks at the rear corners of the pallet.
