LUBRICATING OIL ADDITIVE COMPOSITION FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

A lubricating oil additive composition for internal combustion engines which enables a lubricating oil composition for internal combustion engines having an improved base number to be prepared without impairing the performances of an exhaust gas treatment apparatus including a PM trap and an oxidation catalyst; and a lubricating oil composition for internal combustion engines which contains the lubricating oil additive composition. The lubricating oil additive composition for internal combustion engines contains either a succinimide compound represented by the following general formula (1): (1) (wherein R<1> represents C6-30 alkenyl or alkyl; R<7>, R<8>, R<9>, and R<10> each independently represents hydrogen or C1-3 alkyl; q is an integer of 2 to 4; n is an integer of 0 to 3; r is an integer of 2 to 4; and A represents amino or N-piperazyl) or a product of boronizing of the compound. The use of this lubricating oil additive composition is also provided.
