A process for producing CF3-CHF-CF2-NR2, which is useful as a fluorinating agent. The method for synthesizing a compound represented by the formula (II): CF3-CHF-CF2-NR2 (II) (wherein R's are the same or different and each represents at least one member selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted alkyls, optionally substituted heterocyclic groups, and optionally substituted aryls) comprises reacting a compound represented by the formula (I): CF3-CF=CF-NR2 (I) (wherein R is the same as defined above) with anhydrous HF.
