A method produces basalt flaky filler for composites by crushing and melting basalt, shaping hard flaky vitreous particles from the melt, and subjecting such particles to thermochemical treatment in an oxidizing atmosphere until a crystal phase is developed, with the thermochemical treatment the flaky particles performed at a temperature ranging from about 680° C. to about 850° C. until at least about 12% by weight of the crystal phase is obtained, and at least 7x10<19 >spin/cm<3 >of the reactive paramagnetic centers are developed, followed by air cooling of the flakes to form the filler.
