The position of an eye can be accurately guided so as to acquire a good eye image suitable for authentication. An eye image pickup device comprising an imaging device for picking up the image of an object, and a mirror (40) disposed in front of the imaging device so as to be vertical to the optical axis of the imaging device to mirror the reflected image of the object, the mirror (40) comprising an opening (42) provided in a position in the mirror (40) crossing the above optical axis to align an eye position in the reflected image of the object reflected in the mirror, visible light source units (46), (47) provided at the opposite left and right ends on the rear surface side of the mirror (40), and shielding plates (43), (44) provided at the opposite left and right ends on the front surface side of the mirror (40) to shield light from corresponding left and right visible light source units (46), (47). A person to be authenticated can easily judge which one of the own left and right eyes is in an imaging position depending on whether visible light source units (46), (47) can be seen from right and left light shielding plates (43), (44) in front of them.
