A semi-conductor device 1 enclosed within a housing 2 having flexible end walls 3, 4 is pressed on to a heat sink 7 by compressible means such as a Belleville washer 12 acting against a main body portion 9 of a bridge member 8. The spacing of the body portion 9 from the heat sink 7, and hence the pressure exerted on the device 1 by the washer 12, is determined by the length of side walls 10 of the bridge member 8 held in abutment with the heat sink 7 by bolts 11. A spigotted insulating spacer 16 separates the washer 12 from a terminal 20 in contact with the device 1, which in the embodiment is a three-terminal device.
