An industrial lift truck comprises a mast assembly 9 and a load lifting carriage 10 mounted for sliding movement up and down the mast 9 carrying load-supporting forks 16. The carriage 10 is split into a rear part 12 carrying rollers 11 for the vertical movement and a front part 13 pivoted, on coaxial horizontal transverse bars 15 on the rear part 12 through brackets 14. A double-acting ram 17 has its cylinder 18 and plunger 180 connected respectively to identical lever mechanisms 20 which support rollers 21 resting against the rear surface of the front part 13 of the carriage 10 adjacent its lower edge. Each mechanism 20 includes a pair of interconnected bell crank levers 19 pivotally mounted about a substantially vertical axis on the rear part 12 of the carriage 10. Extension of the ram 17 causes the rollers 21 to press forwards and pivot the forks 16 clockwise, as seen in Fig. 2, about the bars 15. The front part 13 of the carriage 10 and the forks 16 may be moved along the bars 15 and thus transversely of the truck by a second ram 30, the cylinder of which is pivotally mounted by a spherical joint 33 on the rear part 12 of the carriage 10, the plunger 31 being pivotally mounted by a spherical joint 34 on a bracket 32 on the front part 13. During this transverse movement the rollers 21 act as anti-friction supports. |
