<p>Acylbenzohydroxamic acids of the formula: C6H5-CO-NH-OR (where R is an acyl gp.) are used as promoters in the anionic catalytic polymerisation of lactam(s). The promoters considerably reduce the polymerisation time, often to 15 mins.</p>
