Sliding contact bearing

Sliding bearing comprises a support body in the form of tilting pads (2.3-2.4). At least one part of the surface of a machine element (4) slides on the sliding surfaces (2.31, 2.41) of the tilting pads facing the machine element and supplied with lubricant. The rear sides (2.32, 2.42) of the tilting pads facing away from the machine element each sit with a convex or concave spherical section on a concave or convex spherical section of the support surface of a support element (1). The radius of curvature of the concave spherical section is a specified magnitude greater than the radius of curvature of the convex spherical section. The difference in the radius of curvatures is only large enough so that the maximum surface pressure between the rear side of the tilting pads and the support surface of the support element does not exceed the mechanical strength properties of the material of the rear side of the tilting pads.
