[Also in Division F1] In the propulsion system of Specification 1,164,871, the disengagement of a carrier element from the drive member 19 is facilitated at the end of the stroke of the latter by giving it a small acceleration. This enables the pin 23 to be withdrawn from a hole 33 in the member 19 by means of a spring 24<SP>1</SP> provided handle 22 is in its 'disengaged' position. The member 19 is reciprocated by a double acting hydraulic piston and cylinder unit 43 (see Division F1) having a pair of heads 44, 45, one of which is supplied with hydraulic fluid from a pump 57 via a reversing valve 58, the other of which is connected to a sump via the valve 58 and a variable regulator 59. Near the end of a stroke a valve 63 is actuated to provide a second drain path, enabling a small acceleration of the member 19 to take place. The valve 63 also actuates the reversing valve 58 to commence the return stroke of member 19.</p> |
