PURPOSE: A system for preventing a system failure generated in a slot is provided to protect a system from the short occurred in a power supply and signal pins of the slot by using a current limit switch on a power terminal, and to consume power normally. CONSTITUTION: A socket(210) generates a detection signal by judging the short of a detection pin and a ground pin. A controller(220) transmits a switch on/off command by responding to the detection signal from the socket, and judges that the detection signal is generated by the insertion of a normal memory extension card. A switch(230) supplies the power to the socket by turning on/off the switch depending on the switch on/off command transmitted from the controller.
