PURPOSE: Friction structure of a drum-type brake is provided to prevent ununiform partial wear caused by the pressing force concentrated on the central part of a lining by webs of a brake shoe, by recessing the friction surface part of a drum contacting with the central part of the lining. CONSTITUTION: In friction structure of a drum-type brake, a lining(6) stops a vehicle wheel rotating through friction force by contacting with a drum(5) put on a brake shoe(3) moving by a wheel cylinder operating through hydraulic pressure according to operation of a brake pedal. A friction surface part(5a), concentratedly receiving pressing force(F) of the brake shoe pressing the lining, is curvedly recessed with a predetermined radius. The friction surface part is recessed with predetermined depth, to be stepped.
