PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for identifying the position of an automobile are provided to easily identify the position of the automobile by using the remote controller to find an automobile although the driver parks it at a wide parking lot. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for identifying the position of an automobile includes an electronic timing and alarming control system(ETACS)(1) and a portable remote controller(2). The ETACS(1) receives and process the signal transmitted from the position transmission device(3) which is installed at the automobile parked at the parking lot. The portable remote controller(2) receives the signal transmitted from the ETACS(1) and stores/displays the received signal as well as controls the door of the automobile and the start of the engine.
