PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a processing speed and a corrected image by eliminating an erroneous correction caused by an erroneous detection or non-correction caused by non-detection when correcting dust or a flaw in an image reading apparatus. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus having a detection means for detecting information on the dust or the flaw from an invisible light image and a correction means for correcting the dust or the flaw based upon a visible light image and the information on the dust or the flaw is provided with a threshold change means for judging the dust or the flaw by means of the detection means based upon a threshold and changing the threshold in accordance with a read resolution.
