PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tandem time-of-flight mass spectrometer with delayed extraction providing not only excellent data related to the molecular weight of a sample but also the information related to a molecular structure, having sensitivity and resolution necessary for biological application such as sequencing of peptide or oligonucleotide. SOLUTION: The tandem time-of-flight mass spectrometer comprises a pulsated ion generator, a timing control ion selector communicated with the pulsated ion generator, an ion fragment apparatus communicated with an ion selector, and an analyzer communicated with a fragmentation chamber.
