PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp with high brightness, simple structure, and quick response speed without unevenness of lighting at whole part, which can be used as a lighting equipment with long life. SOLUTION: The fluorescent lamp comprises an evacuated spherical lighting envelope having a fluorescent layer at the inside surface thereof, and a field emission cold-cathode electrode. The field emission cold-cathode electrode comprises an electron emission source formed on the cathode electrode, and a gate electrode surrounding the electron emission source. The field emission cold-cathode electrode is located almost at the center of the lighting envelope, and the electrode is spherical or hemispherical, and a carbon nano-tube layer as an electron emission source is formed on the surface of the cathode electrode.
