<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edge detection method capable of speed up of an operation, and not influenced by a background noise of a photographed image, concerning a method for detecting an edge component of a target which is an inspection object from an original image acquired by photographing a region including the object (for example, a mirror surface body), and extracting an inspection region from the original image. <P>SOLUTION: Concerning the original image acquired from a picture signal from a camera, the edge component of the target is detected from the original image by a projection operation using the maximum value of the brightness of a noted pixel row as a representative value, noise removal for replacing the minimum value of points around a noted point with the value of the noted point in a result of the projection operation, and a projection operation along a contour line of the target. Hereby, even for many background noises, the edge component can be detected accurately at high speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
