PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-reciprocal circuit element and a communication device which include matching capacitors, having a high connection reliability. SOLUTION: An isolator 1 has a permanent magnet 9, a center electrode substrate 10, a ferrite 20, the matching capacitors C1 to C4, a resistor R, a grounding plate 40, a resin-made terminal case 3, a metallic upper case 4, and a metallic lower case 8. The metallic lower case 8 has left and right sidewalls 8b and 8a. A bottom 8a of the lower case 8 is provided with a projection 8c for mounting of the matching capacitors C3 and C4. The substrate 10 has a gap, corresponding to the thickness of the ferrite 20 between the substrate and the bottom 8a of the lower case 8, so that the capacitors C3 and C4 and the grounding plate 40 are disposed in the gap.
