PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently reproduce black-and-white characters by representing a character portion in specific values when it is known in advance that a compressed image of a PAF format is used after being represented in black-and- while in the case of extending the image. SOLUTION: The image processing method has an image compressing means and a means for extending the image after replacing the character portion of the image with a pallet color obtained from compressed data or a predetermined specific color.
