PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing pancake which is capable of winding up a magnetic tape to a hub of a cassette for shipping with a good winding style and can remarkably improve productivity and the yield of products. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the pancake comprises taking up the magnetic tape 1 delivered from a magnetic tape supply source on the hub 2 by means of a tape supply mechanism 50 for guiding the magnetic tape around the hub 2. The magnetic tape 1 is taken up on the hub 2 by the tape supply mechanism 50 which is arranged to face the hub by intersecting the axial center of the hub 2 and the axial center of a cylindrical surface disposed at the front end of the mechanism with each other at an intersection angle of 0.02 to 2°, by which the magnetic tape section of the pancake is provided with the permanent set for bending.
