It is intended to provide techniques of regulating plant cytokinesis. Since a genetically male sterile plant is useful, there have been required techniques which are efficiently applicable plants over a wide range. It is possible to provide a techniques of regulating the formation and enlargement of a plant phragmoplast by controlling the expression of NACK1 gene, NACK2 gene, a gene analogous thereto or a gene relating the same and using a modified NACK1 or NACK2 protein as a dominant negative molecule, and a technique of controlling the expression of a pollen forming tissue-specific gene in a promoter of NACK2 or a gene relating thereto. It is advantageous in the fields of agriculture and horticulture to regulate the formation and enlargement of the phragmoplast, since cytokinesis can be modified, a plant with modified development/differentiation can be constructed and a plant showing inhibited formation of pollens having a normal function and male sterility can be constructed thereby, thus promoting breeding and elevating the productivity of an agricultural crop.
|
