The LED's may be mounted so as to send beams of light along the axis of the vehicle. They are connected to a control and calculating system which may be calibrated to give two threshold values. When the emissions are below the first value, the green LED is illuminated. With emissions between the first and second value the orange LED is illuminated. When the emissions are above the second value, the red LED is illuminated. Flashing signals and acoustic signals may also be used.
