Location of cable faults, sub-codes pulses used for location to achieve broadband signals, good autocorrelation and reduced location uncertainty

The signal pulses used for location are sub-coded. They can be synthesized in a suitable manner, are broad band and auto-correlate well. Measurement uncertainty is minimized. An Independent claim is included for equipment transmitting and receiving the pulses. This also includes appropriate coupling, decoupling and processing facilities.
