An electromechanical actuator comprises an electric motor (14) having brushes (15), coupled to a recirculating ball screw (18, 22) operable to convert the rotary motion of the rotor of the electric motor (14) into linear translation of the screw (18). The rotor of the electric motor forms a central tubular portion (19) with an inner helical groove for the balls (22) of the screw (18); a tubular portion (19) is coupled for rotation to a shaft (24) which carries the commutator (17) for the brushes (15) of the electric motor.
