The washing machine has a washing unit which oscillates relative to the washing machine housing, a fixing rod (20) securing the washing unit to the housing, for providing protection during transport. The ends of the fixing device are held in reception devices (10,12) at the front and rear side of the washing machine housing, its central section fixed to the washing unit via at least one reception latch (8a,8b), with the reception devices and/or the reception latch provided with shock-absorbing damping pads (14,15,16,17).
