Module for culture of adherent cells has a cell support (3), e.g. a ceramic honeycomb, through which culture medium flows from an inlet (37) to an outlet (41). An additional pipe (45) is connected to the support and, when connected to the inlet, allows extra modules to be fitted. Independent claims are included for: (a) a unit containing two interconnected modules as described above; and (b) a method for culture of adherent cells, especially for production, development and testing of proteins, especially those produced by recombinant methods, and active materials, using the modules.
