PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a fuel assembly supporting function, a heat removal function and a criticality prevention function compatible with one another, by separating the fuel rod supporting function, the heat removal function and the criticality prevention function and using two kinds of materials. SOLUTION: A basket is installed in a container 1 for containing the fuel rod assembly. Long-sized pipes 12 having a structural strength are staggered, and the pipes 12 are supported by a plurality of grid plates 13 provided in a plurality of stages in a longitudinal direction. Short pipes 11 having a neutron absorbing function are interposed in spaces 20 formed between the adjoining long-sized pipes 12 and the grid plates 13. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
