<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an image forming apparatus able to maintain excellent discharge even in a low-temperature and low-humidity environment with a simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is equipped with a corona charger (5) which has a discharge electrode (11) arranged in a conductive shield (9) having an opening surface on a die facing an image carrier (1) and a 1st ventilation opening (10) in a bottom surface facing the opening surface and a duct (6) which is arranged adjacently to the corona discharger and provided with an air flow opening (7) at one axially end part of the image carrier and blows or suck air from the air flow opening; and the conductive shield has a 2nd ventilation opening (20) on the surface on an air flow downstream side and on the downstream side in the rotating direction of the image carrier and the duct has a 3rd ventilation opening (21) opposite to the 2nd ventilation opening and a 4th ventilation opening (22) nearby a duct exit on the same surface as the surface where the 3rd ventilation opening is formed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
