PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for coating an optical fiber which hardly allows the yellowing of an optical fiber due to fluorescent light and has a sufficiently high curing rate, especially a resin composition for coating an optical fiber which is useful for a primary coating layer capable of attaining the above purpose. SOLUTION: This resin composition comprises (A) a radical-polymerizable oligomer and (B) a phosphorus-based photopolymerization initiator. Oligomer (A) is produced from (a1) a polyether compound prepared by the ring-opening addition polymerization of a cyclic ether compound and having a degree of unsaturation >0.01 milli-equivalent/g and <0.03 milli-equivalent/g and (a2) a compound having a radical-polymerizable unsaturated group.
