PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with such a fixing device that can maintain the temperature of the fixing device itself at a level at which fixing process can be carried out, and at the same time, can be reduced in the power supply to a heat roll. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus provided with the fixing device with a heat roll, a press roll and a temperature detecting means detecting the surface temperature of the roll, a control means carrying out the temperature control of the fixing device by varying the set temperature of the temperature detecting means to low temperature is provided to the image forming apparatus.
