PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grating machine for business use that can obtain grated yam that does not contain any coarse grains of crushed rubbish, is soft and pleasant on a tongue, and has high quality by grating slimy food such as, mainly a natural yam and a Chinese yam and a Japanese yam that are cultivated species. SOLUTION: The grating machine comprises: a plurality of band-saw-shaped cutting blades 4 that are aligned at a required interval in parallel with an axis direction on a circumferential surface and whose blade sections incline to a rotation direction; a port 1 for throwing the food to be grated that is positioned at an upper position of a drum and forms in a box shape being opened in upper and lower directions, turns the face of a partition board 6 for composing the one side wall toward the rotation direction of the drum ahead for arranging, allows the lower end section of the partition board to approach the tip section of the cutting blade 4 at the required interval, and inclines to a direction opposite to the rotation direction; and a retreatment block 7 that approaches the tip section of the cutting blade at the required interval while being separated from a required interval including a reservoir chamber 2 adjacent to the partition board.
